SUMMARY:Writing the Wild Within: Awakening our Soul’s Lessons
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Saturday afternoon in the gardens enjoying nature\, our time together\, and the wisdom that writing offers. \nFor writers\, journalers\, seekers\, and nature lovers\, Writing the Wild Within: Awakening Our Soul’s Lessons connects your inner wildness with nature’s gifts. Through learning to listen to our inner voices\, as well as to the many languages and ways that nature is speaking to us\, we will awaken new and untamed messages. Using writing as a conduit\, we will hear the lessons that are meant for us—the ones our souls want us to know. \nIncludes all materials\, lunch\, parking\, and the enjoyment of Hudson Gardens’ 30 acres of cultivated and wild spaces along the South Platte River. Journals will be provided. Please dress for the weather as we will spend time both outside and inside. \nContours of the Workshop\n\nWelcoming\nWhat does writing mean to you? What new possibilities might it offer on your soul’s journey?\nWildness\nHow does writing unleash our wildness and restore its rightful place in our lives?\nWalk in Beauty\nWhat elements of nature resonate with you in this moment? What does that teach you about your life right now?\nSensory Engagement\nHow do our senses connect us with the natural world? What heartbeats do we hear in the sounds of our words?\nChoosing with Our Imagination\nWhat if\, instead of choosing what is right in front of us\, we could learn to create and choose from our wildest dreams? Using writing to imagine possibilities\, we will cultivate new pathways to purpose.\nReciprocity and an Expression of Gratitude\nReflecting on the lessons offered\, we will write or create an expression of gratitude.\n\n  \nAbout your Workshop Guide\, Christy McConnell \n Christy is the author of the forthcoming book\, Awakening Wildness: Reconnecting with Nature and Ourselves. She has been a professor of education for 19 years and has offered international keynote addresses\, presented workshops and retreats on ecological experience\, and has published extensive research on cultivating meaningful experience. Christy earned her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction and her MA in Professional Creative Writing from the University of Denver. As a teacher and Level One Interspecies Reiki certified practitioner\, Christy hopes to help humans\, animals\, and nature heal and connect.
