Elevate Your Eye & Master Your Camera

We are thrilled to welcome McCory James—a highly accomplished Denver-based professional photographer, painter, and celebrated educator from the Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC)—for an exclusive, two-part workshop series this fall.

Whether you are shooting on a high-end camera or your smartphone, McCory’s hands-on mentorship will help you shift from simply documenting a scene to capturing its true emotion and story.

Workshop Dates & Class Structure

McCory will be hosting sessions on Saturday, September 12th and Saturday, October 10th. Each date features two distinct, complementary classes designed to work hand-in-hand.

Bundle & Save: Take a single class to sharpen a specific skill, or immerse yourself in both sessions for the ultimate creative breakthrough. Register for both classes on the same day and receive a $20 discount!

The Learning Format

Every single session is split into a perfect balance of theory and practice:

  • Hour 1 | In the Classroom: A clear, jargon-free lesson breaking down core creative concepts.

  • Hour 2 | In the Gardens: A hands-on, guided shooting experience where you will immediately apply what you just learned alongside McCory.

You’ll walk away with practical skills, a fresh artistic perspective, and stunning images you’ll be proud to share.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior photography experience to join?

Not at all. These workshops are entirely beginner-friendly and tailored for beginner-to-intermediate creators. McCory focuses on simple, practical techniques that bypass technical intimidation to build your confidence and spark your creativity.

What kind of equipment should I bring?

Bring whatever camera you love to use—including your phone. Photography is about how you see, not just what you shoot with. The concepts McCory teaches apply beautifully to all types of gear. If you have a tripod or filters (like a polarizing or neutral density filter), feel free to bring them along, but they are completely optional!

Are these workshops hands-on or lecture-based?

They are a deliberate mix of both. We believe the best way to learn art is by doing. By pairing a concise one-hour classroom lesson with a one-hour real-world shooting session in the beautiful surrounding gardens, you get immediate feedback and a chance to lock in your new skills on the spot.
